Need really reliable home warranty. No AHS, or First American!?
Sep 22nd, 2008 by DougP
Closing for house in Allen on Dec. 29th. All my research says most of the home warranties suck. Anyone have Aon, or Southwest? Anything that actually is good?
I work for Coldwell Banker and AON is the company that we use. I have had several clients who have used the warranty with no problems, and have actually received calls from my past clients thanking me for suggesting the warranty because it saved them money on some repairs that came up shortly after the prchase. one was with a dischwasher and the other with an A/C condensing unit that was unable to be tested by the home inspector because the outside temperature was too cold to run the unit.
I would suggest that you read all the fine print in any warranty that you purchase so that there will be no suprises, because with most of them, AON included, there will be a service fee charged to you for any service calls, usually around $50.00.
Good luck!

I have AHS for my home in Orange County, CA and they have been really good. But, my parents have Fidelity National for their home and they rave about them. I'm not sure if you have that company in your area, but find them at http://www.homewarranty.com to see.
Also, Buyer's Home Warranty is a big one that I can't vouch for, but be sure to ask your RE agent for recommendations. Brokers typically have relationships with Home Warranty companies that value their reputations.
Good luck to you!
