I am planning to get an extended homeowner's warranty service for my 2002 home. Is it a good idea to use American Home Shield service? The cost is $400 per year. Does anyone have good or unpleasant story they can share?
I had AHS for 2 homes (personal) and had recommended them for some of my buyers. I was not pleased with their service and found out that they did not support my clients. I have used First American since then and have had excellent service.

I have their service and have had excellent luck with the service. It covers most all appliances and repairs done cheap or replace unit.

It is as good as any of the others. Old home republic is another. If you have a real estate office near by, go by and pick up some pamphlets on the different ones and check how they differ. You could also do a search on home warranties on line to compare. I have purchased a warranty on every home I have purchased.
